Guide to temporary protection products when moving to a new house

Proguard temporary protection products are versatile and can be used for a wide range of applications. One common scenario is moving home. Many people overlook the protection of their house during a removal but a few simple products could make the world of difference. Here’s some common problems and how Proguard products could solve this:

PROBLEM: Damage when moving large items

Large furniture getting stuck or catching corners is a common complaint when moving home. The damage it causes can also be costly. However, there are plenty of products which could be used to prevent this.

Doors – We’d recommend removing doors completely, however the frame can still be damage. To protect the frame, Proguard’s foam door jamb protector. They’re quick to apply, simply place the self-gripping o profile tubes on to the frame and remove when done. They will absorb knocks and prevent damage.

Walls – Walls are some of the trickier surfaces to cover, but it can be done via a couple of methods. The quickest and easiest way to protect walls would be to use a self-adhesive fleece product, such as Proguard Protectall Fleece. Fleece’s are versatile and can be used on virtually any surface as well as being reusable. Just roll the fleece out, stick and trim! Alternatively, a sheet of Proguard Correx protection board either placed against the wall or secured with a low tack adhesive, if safe to do so, will stop those unsightly scratches and dents.

Corners – For corners use one a Proguard card or foam corner protectors to minimise the risk of damage. They simply place on to the corner so can reused around the house.

Handrails – These can be protected with specifically designed foam handrail protectors. They come in a variety of sizes to ensure they fit perfectly.

PROBLEM: High traffic on stairs

Staircases are high traffic areas which are prone to damage. To protect vulnerable stair treads, stair nosings and risers, we’d recommend using Proguard’s stair tread protectors. Made from robust card they’re a cost-effective method. They’re pre-creased so they simply fold over the edge of the stair tread.

PROBLEM: Dirt on the carpets

House removals require people to be constantly walking in and out of the property, there it’s very easy for dirt and debris to end up on carpets. Whilst many people might think to put a dust sheet down, they’re not the most suited product for the job due to the fact that they can cause a major trip hazard. To prevent an accident and protect carpets we highly recommend using Proguard’s self-adhesive carpet film. The film comes on an easy to handle roll, simple stick down, trim then peel up when done. No fuss, no mess!

REUSABLE

Once the move is done many of these products are reusable and versatile, so make sure to keep them somewhere safe ready to be used again.
