Happy World Environment Day!
Did you know that Beck has been at the forefront of sustainable product development since 1976? It all started when a young salesman named Ralph Dupont discovered what was then an innovative new product…recycled refuse sacks. ????
Not only was a refuse sack a novel idea but the idea of using recycled plastic for this purpose had strong appeal, with the result that the Beck Sack Company was formed, concentrating on selling not only refuse sacks but builders rubble sacks - both made largely of recycled material. The rest, as they say - is history!
Since 1976, we have grown and expanded our product range a lot, but one thing has remained the same – we are committed to delivery sustainable product solutions.
That’s why we are proud to be the first and only carbon neutral temporary protection solutions provider in the UK and have been for three years running. The Construction Industry Council (CIC) have stated that it is estimated that the construction sector and built environment accounts for *38% of global carbon emissions – a staggering proportion!
We and the industry as a whole must continue to do better to combat the negative environmental impacts that construction projects can have on environments around the world.
To learn more about our Carbon Neutral Project, read our blog here: https://www.proguardproducts.co.uk/news/carbon-neutral-project
In addition to our Carbon Neutral Project, we also have a range of other initiatives helping make construction projects more sustainable:
- Correx Collect Back Scheme: This scheme allows for the responsible disposal of Correx® plastic sheeting. Returned waste is sorted, washed and re-granulated. It is then fully recycled and reused in the production of new plastic products, including Correx® sheeting. The end result is a much more sustainable source of supply. Please get in touch with lyndon@beckuk.com to learn more about the scheme and how it can help your site stay more sustainable.
- Developing sustainable product ranges from recycled materials where possible
We know there is a lot more that we can do together to reduce the impact of the construction industry on the environment and look forward to working with other businesses to achieve a greener future together.
If you would like more information on what we are doing, please get in touch with our Operations Manager, Lyndon, on lyndon@beckuk.com.
